What is Pornography?

Pornography is a sexual activity where a person or people view pictures or videos of naked people who are engaging in sexual activity.

Types of Pornography

1.  Film pornography: It is the act of watching porn through movies
2. Internet pornography: it is act of watching porn through computer/internet
3. Phone pornography: It is the act of watching porn through mobile device
4. Literature Pornography: it is the act of watching pornography through written materials e.g. books, magazine etc.
5. Live Pornography (Exhibitionism): It is the act of watching people physically having sexual intercourse.
6. Cartoon/Artistic pornography: It is the act of watching pornography drawings/cartoons
7. Group pornography: it is the act of watching porn with group of friends.

Is Pornography Really Bad?

People often say that pornography use is a "victimless crime”.

This is a big lie!!!

Pornography use is a cancerous epidemic in world. It's destroying lives, souls, children, youth, marriages and families.

The Truth About Pornography

·         Like adultery, fornication, homosexuality, incest, bestiality and other forms of sexual immorality, the use of pornography, too, is sin.

·         Pornography is the product of Lust of the Eye.

·         Pornography is  ‘deeds of the flesh’

·         Pornography is ‘making provision for the flesh’

·         Pornography is the best food for the carnal mind.

·         Married? Pornography use is adultery. Not married? Pornography use is fornication.

·         Pornography is a mental illness or bondage

·         Pornography is sexual immorality of the mind/heart

·         Pornography is the highest and easiest doorway to sexual immorality, sin and death.

·         When you engage in pornography, you are worshiping a sexual idol called ‘Lust’.

Some Consequences of Pornography

It is Addictive—which means slavery or bondage.

It leads to sexual immorality.

It brings pollution to the mind.

It corrupts the purity of the eye.

It brings condemnation and guilt.

It quenches the Fire of God in you.

It grieves the Holy Spirit.

It brings illness to your mind.

It can cause heartbreaks/disappointment in relationship.

It lead to men seeing women has sex objects

It leads to infidelity and divorce

Some Doorways to Pornography

1.       Attack by the spirit of lust

2.       Emotional heartbreak

3.       Lack of sexual satisfaction

4.       To create sexual stimulation or arousal in order to engage in sexual activity (e.g. sexual intercourse, masturbation)

5.       Desire to learn new sexual fantasies

6.       Peer pressure

7.       Loneliness/idleness

8.       Desire to make money

2 Samuel 11:2

Now when evening came David arose from his bed and walked around on the roof of the king's house, and from the roof he saw a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful in appearance.

Job 31:1

"I have made a covenant with my eyes; How then could I gaze at a virgin?

Matthew 5:27-28

"You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY'; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

James 1:14-15

But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.

1 John 2:16

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.

How to be free from Porn

1. You MUST acknowledge, recognize, and believe that pornography is a sexual sin in and of itself and opens doorways for other sexual sin and sin in general to contaminate you. You must get to the root of the reason why you have turned to pornography so the doorway can be fully closed.

2. You must acknowledge that you cannot be totally free by some psychological or medical programs; you can be truly free by the saving power of Jesus Christ. You must call for His help. Accept Him, Ask for His forgiveness and pray for His power to come and break the yoke of pornography.

3. Make a covenant or a vow to stop viewing pornography of any kind and you will see the grace of God begin to work in your life. (Job in the bible did it! I am also a living proof of this method!)

4. Then begin to build a close relationship with God through regular study of the Word, praying and fasting and attending church services and programs.

5. Build relationship with right people. Learn to socialize with godly people.

How to Build Faith for Sexual Purity

 “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23)

What is faith?

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:1 KJV

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”
Hebrews 11:1 NLT

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
Hebrews 11:1 NIV

When a believer has faith, he or she sees beyond the current circumstances despite what they may be.

Even if everything and everyone surrounding the individual is the total opposite of what he or she desires, the believer's faith causes him or her to be sure that the desired outcome will be attained.

Faith, then, says that my current situation and/or resources do not determine my future.

Why should a believer have faith?

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Hebrews 11:6 NIV

Our foundation as believers is built on faith. Our confession that we believe in God and his son Jesus Christ, is strictly based on faith in God's word. Why? We have never actually seen God or Jesus; we weren't present for the events that are detailed in the bible, yet we believe that God exists, that Jesus is the Messiah, and that all events depicted in the bible are factual.

Everything that we believe God for, is just that, a belief or desire before it comes to fruition. If we don't believe that what we need or want will come to pass, there is no use in asking for it. In the same way, if we don't believe that God is who he says he is or can do what we need him to do, why should we believe in him? For this reason, we must have faith as a believer, even if it is very little.

“He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.””
Matthew 17:20 NIV

Our faith is the catalyst for our miracles, purpose, visions, prophecies etc to come to past. If we possess even the smallest amount of faith, nothing is out of our reach. We can achieve and receive anything that is in accordance with God's will.

How does faith relate to Purity?

Faith and purity go hand-in-hand.
Our faith keeps us on a sexually moral path.
Our faith says that God can keep us from falling.
If we desire to marry, our faith allows us to believe that God has a mate for us who will agree with purity and be committed to purity while courting.
Our faith says that purity is possible even in an overly sexualized society.
Our faith pushes the envelope causing us to believe that we can live in a world that is free of sexual sin.

WHEN THE WORLD SAYS NO TO PURITY; OUR FAITH CAN SAY YES TO PURITY.
WHEN OUR FAITH SAYS YES TO PURITY…THEN THE GRACE FOR PURITY IS RELEASED UNTO US.

Tools to Build Your Faith for sexual purity

1.    Believe that sexual purity is possible. Read the article Sexual Purity is Possible

2.    Take time to build your faith in God’s Word. Sexual immorality is a mountain that can only be moved by a strong faith, not a weak faith.
